This is harder than I thought it was going to be

I really was doing fine with not freaking out about this pregnancy until the second beta scores came back. Everything else has been so above normal, I wanted them to be, too.

Then last night, I had a tiny amount of spotting. I'm not even sure it was spotting, but it was something and it freaked me out. I've also been cramping off and on since last night. The good news is that there's been no more spotting.

The "better" news is that I'm going in for another quantitative beta/hcg test in 45 minutes. And they've moved up my ultrasound to next week. The doctor thinks that it is/was implantation bleeding, but that doesn't make sense to me---I thought that only happened around 10 to 14 dpo. However, I did see something (which I can't find again) that said that brownish blood (like I saw) could be due to the growing placenta and blood being caught behind it. Or a number of other sites I've seen that say it's ok.

Anyhoo, that's the scoop.

This is a very hellish ride. And now I know why there are so many support groups for women who are pregnant after a miscarriage. It's exciting, but it sucks.

Sorry for all your stress. I had crampy feelings with my pregnancies, off and on in the early days. I hope your worries are for nothing but certainly can't blame you. I'll be checking in throughout the day to see how your beta comes out.

Not sure this helps, but I spotted throughout my first trimester (and even a little beyond) with Ess. It was scary, but it turned out ok. Crossing fingers for you...

It does help, MC. last night when I was freaking out, I remembered you.

not that this refers to you or whatnot, but my first nanny who took care of the kids got her period regularly every month until she was 5 months pregnant. regular periods. right timing. right flow. go figure. and what a biiiiig surprise for her that all was.

and there's the 40 something year old who was married for decades and never got pregnant, figured she can't, didn't sweat it, had a busy life and then didn't get her periods....oh menopause........oh, the belly is making weird movements.....she was 5 months along before she realized that she was pregnant. she has the most incredibly intelligent son. life is full of surprises.

does sore nipples indicate that the best by date for suckling has passed? how can you nurse one child and grow another? also, does milk flavour change when the mother is pregnant? go ahead, taste it. lemme know. i can't cope with hearsay evidence. (i don't know but heard someplace that this can happen). if, in spite of the pain, you continue nursing, what are you going to do when the baby is born? nurse a 3 year old and a newborn at the same time?

will your older son be possessive of your breasts to the detriment of his sibling? sibling rivalry is hellish enough. fighting over nipples can turn this all into something fearsome.

Also, implantation apparently is a thing that happens over a couple (maybe even a few) weeks, so it can continue to cause small amounts of bleeding.

Fingers crossed for you. Good luck with the beta and I'm glad to hear the ultrasound was moved up.

No worries. I had spotting with my pregnancy, but not with my mcs at 8 weeks. (we knew it was going to be a mcs from week 6.5.) If you know your OV date you don't have to wait until week 8. You can hear heartbeat at 6.5 weeks. Docs just don't trust your dates - so to be on the safe side they make it 8 weeks.
