Update

Quick update from the hospital. The babies decide that their birthday should be June 6. We like it because they can both have a 6: 6/6.

Bridget Ann is 4 lbs 8 oz and has her father's and brother's feet and toes. Christopher Robert (aka Chunky Monkey) is 6 lbs 1 oz and is FAT for a preemie baby.

They are doing well for 34 week 3 day babies. They are in NICU and are both on a CPAP. The good news is that both are breathing room air---air with no added oxygen. We are hoping that tomorrow they can start eating through a syringe. I've been pumping a lot of colostrum, and we're hoping my milk comes in on Monday. They are likley to stay in NICU for about 2 to 3 weeks.

I will update more when I can. I am exhausted and very, very happy to meet our wonderful new children. NICU isn't great, but they are doing well in there.

Big, big congrats, Anita!! The babes sound lovely and perfect - and very similar to how my girl (34w1d) fared. I hope you, Dave and Conor are doing well!!

(It's been ages since I commented but I've been reading again for a while now. So hi! ;)

Oh, Anita! I cried so abruptly that one of my contacts fell out!

I am incredibly happy for you, Dave, Conor, and the babies. Thank God for their safe arrival to our world. What a blessing...times two! :) Can't wait to here more!

(And ditto Michaela's second paragraph above!)

Superb news!

48 hrs post C/S would be EARLY for your milk to come in...just go with the flow, keep your fluids up :)

Good news! I'm glad they are doing so well. No added O2 on CPAP is very good! Best to you and the babies in the next few days.

Oooooooooooooooh, Congratulations!!!!

Really glad to hear that they (and you) are A-OK! NICU will give them a great start, and maybe give you some time to rest and recover a bit before they come home.

Special congratulations to Big Brother, Conor :-)

I've been a bit of a lurker around here, but I wanted to break that habit given your wonderful news. I'm so happy for you and your family. It's a very hard road getting to where you are now, as I know from personal experience.

Here's hoping you get to bring them home soon, healthy and happy. :)
